(DENVER, CO) - Water professionals will explore the exciting science of nanotechnology during an American Water Works Association (AWWA) webcast beginning at 1 p.m. EDT, July 23.

The webcast will cover the applications of nanotechnology within the water sector, and its implications on treatment, sustainability, public health and safety. Working at an atomic level, nanotechnology can improve membrane technology, adsorption processes and the development of compounds that selectively extract toxic substances.

Webcast presenters will include:
- Nora Savage, Ph.D., Environmental Engineer, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Research and Development, National Center for Environmental Research
- Eric Hoek, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Henry Samueli Chair, University of Los Angeles, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, California NanoSystems Institute, and Water Technology Research Center
- Bob Burk, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer, NanoH2O, Inc.
