EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - October 23, 2006 - Applied Wave Research, Inc. (AWR®), a leading provider of high-frequency electronic design automation (EDA) tools, today announced that in order to better serve the company's rapidly expanding Japanese customer base, it has opened a dedicated sales, marketing, and support center in Japan, and has appointed Michiyoshi Endo as managing director. A graduate of the Tohoku Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Electronics Engineering and Telecommunications, Endo-san worked as an applications engineer at Kyocera Co., Ltd., before moving into sales and marketing, strategic planning, customer service, and business development for various high-technology software and hardware companies in Japan and Asia.

"Michiyoshi Endo joins us with over 20 years of industry experience as a representative with Seki Technotron selling high-frequency EDA software and components," said Ron Patston, AWR's vice president of Asia Pacific operations. "In his most recent positions Endo-san has successfully launched two sales and service organizations for U.S. parent companies, as well as three sales offices in Japan for high-tech products, and an IT division in Singapore. I am confident his leadership and experience will help AWR effectively provide closer support and service for our Japanese customer base, and drive AWR's next growth phase in Japan's market."

Commenting on his appointment, Endo-san said, "I am pleased to be joining the dynamic and highly focused AWR team and am looking forward to fulfilling the needs of our customers and further developing our customer base throughout Japan. Best-in-class products such as Microwave Office® design suite, Analog Office® design suite, Visual System Simulator(TM) software, and Signal Integrity Design Suite(TM) meet the critical design needs and market demands for this region's wireless communications and consumer electronics industries."
