AVX Receives Space-Level MIL-PRF-49470 QPL Approval for C0G (NP0) SMPS Capacitors in Three New Case Sizes and Voltages

Press release date: January 10, 2014

Ideal for I/O filtering bulk storage in a variety of military, space, harsh environment, high voltage applications, the full range of AVX C0G (NP0) SMPS capacitors on the MIL-PRF-49470 QPL now includes six case sizes & spans 50-500V

GREENVILLE, S.C.– AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has received T-Level MIL-PRF-49470 qualification approval for its 100V, 200V, and 500V BP characteristic (C0G [NP0) horizontally stacked SMPS capacitors in encapsulated and unencapsulated styles in case sizes 3, 4, and 5. With the addition of the newly approved components, AVXs offering of temperature stable C0G (NP0) SMPS capacitors on the MIL-PRF-49470 QPL has expanded to include encapsulated and unencapsulated devices in six case sizes (1-6) with voltage ratings spanning 50-500V.

AVXs high reliability T-Level C0G (NP0) SMPS capacitors are available in 100V, 200V, and 500V and feature a capacitance range up to 1.8µF. Standard reliability B-Level C0G (NP0) SMPS capacitors are available in 50V, 100V, 200V, and 500V and feature a capacitance range up to 2.2µF. Rated for -55°C to +125°C, both T- and B-Level C0G (NP0) SMPS capacitors are ideal for I/O filtering and bulk storage in a wide range of military, space, harsh environment, and high voltage applications, including: military defense and weapons systems; space and satellite communications; telecom switching, networking, and base stations; DC/DC power converters; high voltage medical electronics and industrial equipment; down hole drilling and oil exploration equipment; and alternative and hybrid energy vehicles.

Available in encapsulated and unencapsulated styles, various case sizes, and a broad range of voltage and temperature characteristics, AVX has the most extensive QPL listing of both standard and high-reliability SMPS capacitors available, said Patrick Hollenbeck, applications engineer at AVX. In fact, AVX MIL-PRF-49470 SMPS capacitors are the leading solution for I/O filter capacitors in military switch mode power supplies.

SpiCalci 8.0 SPICE modeling software, which helps design engineers validate circuits before they are built by allowing them to simulate frequency performance plots and other data for specific AVX components, is available for the full offering of C0G (NP0) SMPS capacitors approved on the MIL-PRF-49470 QPL.
