Diesel Fuels Focus of ASTM International Training Course



W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., November 12, 2009-"Diesel Fuels: Specifications and Test Methods," a technical and professional training course sponsored by ASTM International, covers a wide range of diesel fuel issues including specifications, test methods, sampling and quality control, distribution, current issues and alternate fuels like biodiesel.

Participants will learn the significance of these requirements, how to interpret product inspections, the impacts of product quality on diesel engine applications, and current fuel issues and challenges. There is extensive discussion of diesel fuel lubricity, low temperature operability and sulfur content. Participants will gain an understanding of the interconnection of diesel fuel with other fuels and the impacts of quality requirements on refinery production and product availability.

The course, which features a tour of a testing facility, OEM site or terminal operation, is designed for supervisors, managers and other professionals in the fields of laboratory operations, fuel handling, purchasing, engine manufacture, fuel system design, fuel marketing and sales and quality control.

The course will be held four times in 2010: March 16-18 in Phoenix, Ariz.; April 20-22 in New Orleans, La.; Sept. 28-30 in Denver, Colo.; and Nov. 16-18 in Orlando, Fla.

The attendance fee is $1095 USD and includes ASTM D975, Standard Specification for Diesel Fuel Oils, as well as other referenced ASTM standards; the Canadian and European diesel standards; course notes; transportation to and from the demonstration site; and refreshment breaks.
