ASTM Announces Training Course on Screening for Vapor Encroachment into Property Involved in Real Estate Transactions

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., -"Screening for Vapor Encroachment into Property Involved in Real Estate Transactions" is a newly revised one-day ASTM technical and professional training course to be held 10 times during the second half of 2010.

Vapor encroachment into the subsurface of a property involved in a real estate transaction can potentially create significant liability for owners and prospective purchasers and have a material impact on property value. The screening methodology in the newly published ASTM E2600-10, Standard Guide for Vapor Encroachment Screening on Property Involved in Real Estate Transactions, was developed to facilitate this assessment by environmental professionals.

The revised course will review the rationale behind the standard's development; compare the 2010 version of the standard with the 2008 version; discuss the tiered methodology used; and the implications for environmental professionals involved in conducting property environmental due diligence. The screening methodology associated with Tiers 1 and 2 of the standard will be reviewed in detail and case studies will be included.
