W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., —A symposium on Continuous Soil Gas Measurements: Worst Case Risk Parameters, will be held Jan. 30, 2013, at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront in Jacksonville, Fla. Sponsored by ASTM International Committee D18 on Soil and Rock, the symposium will be held in conjunction with the January standards development meetings of the committee.

The symposium will focus on newly released critical continuous soil gas monitoring parameters associated with industrial activity around the world. From oil and gas companies, chemical companies through small industrial sites, there is a growing need to understand and mitigate worst case/ explosive or high human health risk conditions.

Dry cleaners, gas stations, refineries, fracking sites, landfills, landfill energy systems, machine shops, etc., all can exhibit vapor intrusion risk. Often driven by litigation, the interest in vapor intrusion (VI) into homes and buildings has skyrocked. Recent dynamic risk observations pose serious implications about conventional approaches, best management practices, due diligence and formerly closed sites, and create a need to identify and understand site-specific conditions that warrant continuous monitoring.

Online registration opens approximately eight weeks before the symposium and closes Jan. 23. The attendance fee for ASTM members, presenters and sessions is $140 USD for online registration and $165 USD onsite. The fee for non-ASTM members is $165 USD online and $190 USD onsite. There is no fee for students with a valid ID.
