ASTM-Sponsored Workshop focuses on lead in copper alloys.

July 16, 2010 - Held in conjunction with standards development meetings of ASTM Committee B05 on Copper and Copper Alloys, Lead in Copper Alloys: Recent Developments will take place on Oct. 13, 2010 in San Antonio, TX. It will trace recent history of Pb and Pb restrictions in Committee B05 standards as well as give overview of ballot items to reduce Pb as part of CDA Residual Element Reduction Program. Discussion will center on new alloys being developed in response to CA and VT initiatives.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-A workshop on Lead in Copper Alloys: Recent Developments will be held on Oct. 13, 2010, at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. The workshop is sponsored by ASTM Committee B05 on Copper and Copper Alloys, and will be held in conjunction with the Oct. 11-13 standards development meetings of the committee.

The workshop will trace the recent history of lead and lead restrictions in Committee B05 standards. It will give an overview of the ballot items to reduce lead as part of the CDA Residual Element Reduction Program. In addition, discussion will center on new alloys being developed in response to regulatory initiatives in California (California Health and Safety Code AB 1953) and Vermont (Vermont State Senate Bill S.0152). Also addressed will be new issues in the CPSC regarding lead in alloys targeted for children's products.
