ASTM Sensor Quality Workshop Will Be Held in April
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.—A Sensory Quality Workshop will be held April 9 at the Sheraton Toronto in Ontario, Canada. Sponsored by ASTM International Committee E18 on Sensory Evaluation, the workshop will be held in conjunction with the committee’s April standards development meetings.
Sensory quality defines the value of products and consumer experience. Managing sensory quality requires a comprehensive measurement program and a clear connection to the consumer. This workshop will explore the practical application of sensory quality programs and the methods that are used in conducting and maintaining a quality program. Activities will include:
Tour of Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) Sensory Facilities and Quality Laboratories;
Discrimination Methods − a hands-on experience using Tetrad and Triangle tests on selected products and comparison of the outcomes;
Sensory Quality Methods − a hands-on application of DoD (Degree of Difference) and DFC (Difference from Control); and
Panel Proficiency − a case study and exercise using the Vintner Quality Alliance assessment scheme.
Online registration is now open and closes April 2. The fee for ASTM members is $95 USD online and $120 USD onsite; the fee for non-ASTM members is $120 USD online and $145 USD onsite. There are no fees for presenters and students.
