New Publication Available from ASTM International Covers Durability of Building and Construction Sealants/Adhesives

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-A new publication from ASTM International, STP 1514, Durability of Building and Construction Sealants and Adhesives, is the latest volume in this continuing series that provides the most recent data from laboratory research and field work in the building and construction industry for all aspects of sealant and adhesive durability. Twenty-one peer-reviewed papers cover a wide variety of topics, including:

Laboratory Testing and Specialized Outdoor Exposure Testing-adhesion lifetime of water-immersed joints; a long-term outdoor weathering study of construction sealants; and a new approach to joint sealing systems for pavement.

Factors Influencing the Durability of Sealed Joints and Adhesive Fixations-substrate durability guidelines used in silicone structural attachment; adhesion development of organic and silicone sealants on wet and dry concrete; and cleaning silicone residue from glass.

Development of New Test Methods and Performance-Based Specifications-windows designed to mitigate the impact of bomb blasts; effect of strain on the modulus of sealants exposed to outdoors; and development of accelerated aging test methodology for Bonded CFRP Systems.

Field Experience with Sealed Joints and Adhesive Fixation-comparison of the outdoor weathering behavior of a laboratory prepared high performance acrylic sealant to that of a commonly used, commercially available two-part polyurethane sealant.

STP 1514, Durability of Building and Construction Sealants and Adhesives: 3rd Volume, is available in both print (417 pages; soft cover 6 x 9"; stock # STP1514; ISBN: 978-0-8031-3426-3) and as an E-book (stock # STP1514-EB; ISBN: 978-0-8031-8408-4) for $117.
