ASTM Nondestructive Testing Committee Presents Lifetime Achievement Award to Robert Hardison
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. — ASTM InternationalCommittee E07 on Nondestructive Testing has recognized Robert Hardison of Southport, N.C., with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Hardison was honored by E07 for his many years of service and dedication to the development of international standards for the nondestructive testing industry. A member of ASTM International since 1967, Hardison led E07 as chairman for two consecutive terms (1984-1988), and initiated the establishment of Subcommittee E07.95 on Long-Range Planning. A fellow of ASTM International, Hardison received the Award of Merit in 1989 and became an E07 honorary member in 1988. He also served terms on the ASTM board of directors and the Standing Committee on Technical Committee Operations (COTCO).
A graduate of Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va., where he received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and his MBA, Hardison held various high level positions during a long career at Newport News Shipbuilding, Newport News, Va., including director of quality, vice president of quality and sector director of quality and technical services. He retired in 2005.
Outside ASTM International, Hardison is a fellow of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing, where he received the Philip Johnson Honorary Membership Award in 1993, and a member of the International Propeller Club of the United States and the United States Power Squadron.
