ASTM International presents Award of Merit to Stephen J. Boros.

Boros, technical director at Plastics Pipe Institute in Irving, TX, has received ASTM International Award of Merit and title of fellow from Committee F17 on Plastic Piping Systems. A member of ASTM since 1990, Boros works on several F17 subcommittees and task groups and is chairman of Subcommittee F17.38, the Technical Advisory Group to ISO TC 138 on Plastics Pipes, Fittings and Valves for the Transport of Fluids. He has more than 20 years of experience in plastic piping industry.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., -Stephen J. Boros, technical director at the Plastics Pipe Institute in Irving, Texas, has received the ASTM International Award of Merit and title of fellow from Committee F17 on Plastic Piping Systems. The Award of Merit is ASTM's highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to standards activities.

A member of ASTM International since 1990, Boros works on several F17 subcommittees and task groups and is chairman of Subcommittee F17.38, the Technical Advisory Group to ISO TC 138 on Plastics Pipes, Fittings and Valves for the Transport of Fluids. Committee F17 recognized his contributions with a Certificate of Appreciation in 1997 and a Special Service Award in 2006. Boros is also a member of Committee D20 on Plastics.

Boros has more than 20 years of experience in the plastic piping industry, including materials processing and development, polyethylene pipe resin development and pipe extrusion and design. He has been with the Plastics Pipe Institute, where he also serves as chairman of the Hydrostatic Stress Board, since 2003. Prior to that, he was principal at Group Timberline Inc., Corinth, Texas; technical services manager at CSR Pipeline Systems, Houston, Texas; and technical service engineer at Solvay Polymers, Deer Park, Texas.

In addition to ASTM International, Boros is a member of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Committee, the American Gas Association, American Water Works Association, Canadian Standards Association, International Organization for Standardization and the Society of Plastics Engineers.
