ASTM International offers Proficiency Testing Programs.July 14, 2011 -
ASTM's Proficiency Testing Programs on Petroleum Products and Lubricants provide participating laboratories with a statistical quality assurance tool, enabling them to compare their performance in the use of ASTM test methods with other laboratories worldwide. Laboratories receive different samples for each test cycle, and upon completing tests, submit test data electronically to ASTM for use in generating statistical summary reports.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., -ASTM International's Proficiency Testing Programs (PTP) on Petroleum Products and Lubricants provide participating laboratories with a statistical quality assurance (SQA) tool, enabling them to compare their performance in the use of ASTM test methods with other laboratories worldwide. You receive different samples (representative of the product line) for each test cycle. Upon completing the test(s), each laboratory electronically submits their test data to ASTM for use in generating statistical summary reports, which contain:
o Each participating laboratory's test results (coded for confidentiality);
o Statistical analysis of test data; and
o Other pertinent information. The 22 product programs include:
o Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel
o General Gas Oils
o Petroleum Wax
o In-Service Oil Monitoring
o Base Oil
o Crude Oil
o Lubricating Grease
o Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF)
o Automotive Lubricants Additives
