ASTM Workshop to focus on International Green Construction Code.

ASTM International Workshop on the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) and Beyond
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., -An ASTM International workshop on the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) and Beyond will be held Monday, April 19, at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand and Suites Hotel in St. Louis, Mo. Sponsored by ASTM Committee E60 on Sustainability, the workshop will be held in conjunction with the April 20-22 standards development meetings of the committee.
The International Code Council has been working at an accelerated pace to develop the International Green Construction Code (IgCC). ASTM International and the American Institute of Architects have been working very closely with the ICC as Cooperating Sponsors. The mission of this partnership is to develop a model code focused on new and existing commercial buildings through consultation on standards and best practices.
This ASTM workshop will provide an overview of the IgCC development process and content. It will review specific IgCC language for example and possible application in the field, and it will address the critical role of standards in the IgCC. The first public version of the IgCC will be published in March 2010, which is expected to inform many policy discussions currently underway.
Interested parties are invited to submit poster presentations highlighting an example application of the draft IgCC (March 2010 Public Comment version) and the associated standard(s) that may be involved. Each poster presentation should include only one case study example; however, an organization may submit multiple posters.
Please note that space is limited to the number of poster presentations selected. Please submit a draft (PDF or outline) for consideration via e-mail to workshop chair Dru Meadows no later than 2:00 p.m. EST on April 9. Selected presenters will be notified by April 15 and selected posters will be displayed at the workshop.
