ASTM International Workshop on Biologic and Synthetic Bone Grafts
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., - A workshop on "Biologic and Synthetic Bone Grafts: Current Status and Future Directions," will be held May 18, 2010, at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand and Suites Hotel in St. Louis, Mo. The workshop, which is being sponsored by ASTM Committee F04 on Medial and Surgical Materials and Implants in cooperation with AAOS Device Forum and AAOS Biological Committee, will be held in conjunction with the May 18-21 standards development meetings of the committee.
Currently, applied research, development and commercialization of bone grafts have lead to promising and successful products. Enhancements in standard evaluations and assessments of these bone graft products and development activities could potentially increase their clinical effectiveness for the repair and regeneration of bone. The purpose of this workshop is to summarize the current technologies and their approved uses and highlight areas for a new ASTM guide and standard development.
The following topics will be discussed at the workshop: current standards; bone graft assessment and models; clinical performance; and tissue engineered bone graft biomaterials and combinations.
The fee to attend the workshop for ASTM members is $50 USD for online registration and $75 USD for onsite registration. The fee for non-ASTM members is $75 USD online and $100 USD on site. There is no fee for presenters and full-time students with a valid I.D.
