W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-The Third International Symposium on Tribo-Corrosion will be held April 19-20 at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Ga. Sponsored by ASTM International Committee G02 on Wear and Erosion, the symposium will be held in conjunction with the April standards development meetings of the committee.

The 2012 International Symposium on Tribo-Corrosion is the third such event to be held worldwide, but the first-of-its-kind to be held in the United States. The focus of this multi-disciplinary forum is to bring together basic and applied researchers who are addressing the challenge of understanding how surface degradation processes like mechanical wear and chemical attack (corrosion) interact with each other. More than 40 scheduled presentations will span broad technology areas from dental and body implants to industrial machinery and from seals and bearings to nuclear power plants.

Online registration is now open and closes April 11. The fees to attend the workshop are as follows:

  • ASTM members and presenters: $280 USD for online registration and $305 USD for on-site registration
  • Non-ASTM members: $305 USD for online registration and $330 USD for on-site registration
