ASTM Correctional Facility Committee names Mike Retford chairman.

February 13, 2012 - Mike Retford, principal at AECOM's architecture practice in Orange, CA, has been named chairman of ASTM International Committee F33 on Detention and Correctional Facilities, which develops international standards for materials, products, assemblies, and systems used in construction and operation of detention/correctional facilities. A member of ASTM International since 2000, Retford has over 37 years of experience in architecture and has been a licensed architect for more than 28 years.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., -Mike Retford, principal at AECOM's architecture practice in Orange, Calif., has been named chairman of ASTM International Committee F33 on Detention and Correctional Facilities. The committee develops international standards for materials, products, assemblies and systems used in the construction and operation of lockups and detention and correctional facilities for adults and juveniles.

A member of ASTM International since 2000, Retford works on several F33 subcommittees and is also a member of Committee E54 on Homeland Security Applications.

Retford has over 37 years of experience in architecture and has been a licensed architect for more than 28 years. His experience includes all phases of design, construction document preparation and construction administration. He has worked as principal-in-charge, project manager and/or project architect at numerous correctional and justice facilities across the United States.

In addition to ASTM International, Retford is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the AIA Committee on Architecture for Justice, the American Correctional Association and the American Jail Association.
