ASTM Concrete Committee names Steven E. Parker as chairman.

March 19, 2012 - ASTM International Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates has named Steven E. Parker, North American sales and marketing manager at CHRYSO Inc., Rockwall, TX, as its new chairman. A member of ASTM since 1993, Parker is also chairman of Subcommittee C09.95 on Coordination. Prior to assuming his role with CHRYSO in 2008, Parker was VP/general manager at Trinity Materials Inc. in Ferris, TX, and VP of aggregate development and technical services at RMC Mid-Atlantic LLC in Greenville, SC.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., - ASTM International Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates has named Steven E. Parker, North American sales and marketing manager at CHRYSO Inc., Rockwall, Texas, as its new chairman. The committee includes 1,400 technical experts who oversee more than 170 international concrete standards that are essential to the construction of civil infrastructure.

A member of ASTM International since 1993, Parker is also chairman of Subcommittee C09.95 on Coordination and works on multiple C09 subcommittees. Committee C09 presented him with an Award of Appreciation in 2008, and he also received a Service Award in 2006 for his term on the ASTM Committee on Technical Committee Operations (COTCO).

Parker assumed his role with CHRYSO in 2008. Prior to that, he was vice president/general manager at Trinity Materials Inc. in Ferris, Texas, and vice president of aggregate development and technical services at RMC Mid-Atlantic LLC n Greenville, S.C. He also worked in sales/technical services at RMC Nevada Inc. in Reno, Nev., and at Nevada Cement Co. in Fernley, Nev.

A graduate of Montana State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in wildlife management, Parker also holds a master's degree in geology from the University of Wyoming. Outside ASTM International, he is a member of the American Concrete Institute.
