ASTM Committee on Metallography Sponsors Workshop on Grain Size Determination
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-A workshop on "Grain Size Determination According to ASTM Test Methods E112, E930, E1181, E1382 and Other Methods" will be held Nov. 17, 2010, at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. The workshop, which is being sponsored by ASTM Committee E04 on Metallography, will be held in conjunction with the Nov. 15-16 standards development meetings of the committee.
This workshop presents a unique opportunity for users of the ASTM standards to present problems or ask questions concerning the various grain size determination methods. The workshop organizing committee is extending an invitation to all parties who are interested in presenting information about digital cameras and their use in grain size determination of metallic materials or in demonstrating software and equipment used in such ratings.
Tentatively, the morning session would consist of presentations by individuals or groups wishing to discuss techniques and methods for both revealing and rating grain size in metals. The afternoon session would be reserved for suppliers of cameras, software and metallographic equipment who would want to set up and make their equipment available for demonstrations.
