ASTM International Committee on Petroleum Products and Lubricants Honors Mical C. Renz with Award of Merit



W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., - ASTM International Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants has recognized the extraordinary contributions of Mical C. Renz, president of Dixie Services Inc. in Galena Park, Texas, with the ASTM Award of Merit. The Award of Merit, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM's highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to standards activities.

A member of ASTM International for more than 30 years, Renz works on multiple D02 subcommittees and is also a member of Committee D27 on Electrical Insulating Liquids and Gases. Committee D02 presented him with an Award of Appreciation in 2004 and the Award of Excellence in 2008.

Renz was a new business/new market development manager at Gulf Oil Corp. in Houston, Texas, and at Southwest Specialty Chemicals in Deer Park, Texas, before founding Dixie Services in 1977. An independent commercial laboratory, Dixie Services specializes in chemical/physical analysis and testing for the petroleum, chemical and marine transportation industries. As owner, manager and laboratory technician, Renz uses a full spectrum of ASTM International standards in his lab.

A gradate of the University of Kansas where he received a bachelor's degree in chemistry, Renz also holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. In addition to ASTM International, he is a member of the Society for Protective Coatings, AOCS (the American Oil Chemists Society) and AOAC International (formerly the Association of Official Analytical Chemists).
