November 8, 2010 - Papers are invited for ASTM International symposium on Lime: Building on the 100-Year Legacy of ASTM Committee C07, which will be held June 28, 2012. Symposium will not only reflect on 100 years of dedicated work, but will also invite discussion on need for new work and possible revisions of old. Some topics will include physical and chemical characterization, sustainability, flue gas treatment technology uses, water treatment applications, mine reclamation, and soil stabilization.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., -Papers are invited for the ASTM International symposium on Lime: Building on the 100-Year Legacy of ASTM Committee C07. The symposium will be held June 28, 2012, at the Sheraton San Diego, San Diego, Calif., in conjunction with the June 24-29 standards development meetings of Committee C07 on Lime.

The objective of this symposium is to use this milestone to not only reflect on the legacy of 100 years of dedicated work by Committee C07 on Lime and the impact of this work on the lime industry and related industries, but also to invite discussion on the need for new work and possible revisions of old as we move into the next century.

Producers and users of lime in all of its forms (limestone, dolomite, quicklime, lime kiln dust, hydrate, slurries and putties) and applications, as well as other professionals involved in the development of specifications regarding lime, are asked to submit an abstract. Topics include: physical and chemical characterization, sustainability, flue gas treatment technology uses, water treatment applications, mine reclamation, building lime applications, soil stabilization, asphalt, steel and glass manufacturing. Interested participants must submit a 250-300 word preliminary abstract online by April 4, 2011. Symposium presenters are required to submit their papers to the Journal of ASTM International (JAI). JAI is an online, peer-reviewed journal for the international scientific and engineering community (www.astm.org/JAI). Manuscripts to be peer reviewed for JAI can be submitted online and are due at the ASTM Editorial Office no later than Sept. 8, 2011.
