Reinhold Strnat, President and Technical Manager of Magnet-Physics, Inc., has been presented with Award of Merit and title of fellow by ASTM International Committee A06 on Magnetic Properties. Strnat was honored for his leadership and work in developing test methods and material specifications while on committee. He joined A06 in 1992, served as Secretary and Vice Chairman, and was named Chairman in 2010 and also leads Subcommittees A06.01 on Test Methods.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. - ASTM International Committee A06 on Magnetic Properties has presented the Award of Merit to Reinhold Strnat, president and technical manager of Magnet-Physics Inc. in Fishers, Ind. The Award of Merit, which includes the honorary title of fellow, is ASTM's highest recognition for individual contributions to standards activities.
Strnat was honored for his leadership and his work in developing test methods and material specifications from Committee A06, which he joined in 1992. He was named chairman of A06, a committee of approximately 50 members, in 2010, and before that served as both secretary and vice chairman. He also leads Subcommittees A06.01 on Test Methods.
Strnat began his career as an electrical engineer at the University of Dayton Research Institute in Dayton, Ohio, 1979. In 1985, he joined KJS Associates Inc. in Indianapolis, Ind., where he held various roles, including president and technical/quality manager, during his 23-year tenure. Since 2008, Strnat has been president and technical manager of Magnet-Physics Inc., the North American representation for Magnet-Physik Dr. Steingroever GmbH of Cologne, Germany, a worldwide supplier of magnetizing and magnetic test equipment and services.
Outside ASTM International, Strnat is a commercial/instrument-rated pilot and FAA Certificated Flight Instructor and a senior member of IEEE. He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio, and a master's degree in applied physics from the University of California San Diego, La Jolla, Calif.
