ASTM 16th International Symposium on Zirconium in the Nuclear Industry to Be Held in China
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. - The 16th International Symposium on Zirconium in the Nuclear Industry will be held May 9-13, 2010, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. The symposium is being sponsored by ASTM International Committee B10 on Reactive and Refractory Metals and Alloys.
The purpose of the symposium is to provide a forum for exchanging new information on the fabrication, testing, development and characterization of zirconium-base materials in the nuclear industry, including material behavior during normal, transient and accident conditions and material behavior during intermediate and long-term storage conditions. Of special interest is the application of new alloys.
Session papers and posters will reflect emerging technologies and concerns in the following areas: basic metallurgy, processing and fabrication, alloy development, mechanical behavior, primary failure mechanisms, degradation mechanisms of failed fuel, corrosion and hydriding, in-reactor performance, irradiation effects, high-temperature and transient phenomena, mechanistic modeling of processing or performance, and intermediate and long-term storage performance.
