ASABE announces completion of ANSI/ASABE S588, Uniform Terminology for Air Quality. Use of terminology related to rural air quality has grown with increased focus by U.S. EPA and others on confined animal feedlot operations. Standard establishes uniformity in terms used in the field of rural air quality and serves as resource of useful new terms and definitions. It supplements existing ASTM standards and provides consensus definitions for more than 180 terms.

ASABE Completes Terminology Standard for Air Quality



ST JOSEPH, MICHIGAN- The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) announces completion of ANSI/ASABE S588, Uniform Terminology for Air Quality. The use of terminology related to rural air quality has grown with the increased focus by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and others on confined animal feedlot operations. The new standard establishes uniformity in terms used in the field of rural air quality and serves as a resource of useful new terms and definitions. It supplements existing ASTM standards and provides consensus definitions for more than 180 terms.

ASABE members with standards access and those with site-license privileges can access the full-text of the standard by electronic download in about a week. Location for the download is on the ASABE online Technical Library at: elibrary.asabe.org. Others can obtain a copy for a fee directly from the library or by contacting ASABE headquarters at martin@asabe.org.
