ARRIS to Demonstrate End to End Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) Based SDV at IBC
SUWANEE, Ga., Sept. 6 / -- ARRIS (NASDAQ:ARRS) today announced that its multi-functional D5 Universal Edge QAM (UEQ) will be exhibited at numerous booths throughout the IBC Convention Center.
The ARRIS D5 UEQ will display its Switched solution suppliers. SDV is fast becoming one of the industry's key technologies as operators look for ways to create new bandwidth to accommodate HD Digital Video (SDV) capabilities in interoperability demos with several European equipment and channels, on-demand programming, high speed data and modular CMTS-enabled services.
ARRIS (Stand 4.250) will demonstrate the D5 UEQ's Switched Digital Video functionality in conjunction with video network processing and compression specialists Thomson (NetProcessor 9040) and IMAKE's open-standards session and resource management platform (OpenVision). This solution offers open and scalable RTSP-controlled switching, utilizing standards based protocols optimized for high performance Switched Digital Video.
At the IneoQuest booth (Stand 221 in Hall 12P), IneoQuest will demonstrate end-to-end network testing and trouble-shooting right to full system level analysis of IPTV services. The demonstrated solutions will show IneoQuest G1- T providing IPTV test streams to a D5(TM) UEQ with all the outputs of the D5 being monitored simultaneously by the IneoQuest Singulus Lite QAM Cricket unit.
At the eventIS booth (Stand 4.254) open-standards HD VOD transactions will be demonstrated on a 2-Way DOCSIS network utilizing the ARRIS C3(TM) CMTS. This demonstration showcases the concept of "personal channels" and is managed by the eventIS VOD back-office system, which requests and controls movies via the ARRIS C3 CMTS -- then sent to the ARRIS D5 UEQ for scrambled delivery via QAM to the end-user's set-top box. The D5 UEQ's special edge SI Data Insertion functionality will be used to deliver normal broadcast channels via QAM and insert the specific EPG data at the latest stage of the network for the most flexibility.
