API Technologies to Showcase Variety of High Reliability Power Electronics at APEC 2013

ORLANDO, FL - API Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:ATNY) ("API" or the "Company"), a trusted provider of RF/microwave, microelectronics, and security solutions for critical and high-reliability applications, announced today that it will showcase its diverse range of products suitable for higher power applications during the 2013 Annual Applied Power Electronics Conference & Expo (APEC). Discussions and live demonstrations will take place at the API Technologies Booth #91, featuring its Spectrum Control™ line of EMI power filters, film capacitors, switch mode power supply capacitors, magnetics, and the latest in current limiting NTC thermistors. API's GaN broadband power amplifiers and power distribution products will also be on display. APEC takes place on March 17-21 in Long Beach, CA.

"Our strong heritage in developing standard and custom-engineered power solutions to meet a broad range of high-reliability applications is evident in every solution we provide. When customers seek an innovative power solution to lower costs and reduce time to market, API Technologies offers the feature-rich product portfolio to meet today's - and tomorrow's - power demands," said Jason Russolese, Director of Global Sales and Marketing, Electromagnetic Integrated Solutions and Sensor Products, API Technologies.

The key product/solution areas that API will focus on at APEC include:

•Â  EMI Signal/Power/Interconnect Solutions

API Technologies offers the unique ability to understand and address AC and DC power issues ranging from EMC compliance to transient suppression, low voltage cut-off, circuit breakers, redundant power configurations, power distribution, and remote power system access. As the leader in signal line filtering and filtered and custom interconnects, API has the largest offering of MIL-STD QPL 15733 signal line filters, as well as an extensive interconnect portfolio ranging from filtered D-subs to high performing filtered and non-filtered custom military circular connectors. EMI power filter solutions can be tailored to meet any application’s design, logistic, or budgetary requirements.

•Â Â Film Capacitors & DC Links

The line of power film capacitors and high reliability DC link capacitors on display at APEC are designed using the latest technology to achieve maximum capacitance density under harsh operating conditions. API's DC link capacitors are manufactured using segmented, self-healing metallized polypropylene and are ideal for power inverter applications that require superior life expectancy. All power film capacitors can be customized for applications such as renewable energy inverters, electric vehicle power conversion, aircraft power conversion systems, high voltage power supplies, and medical imaging equipment.

•Â  Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) Capacitors

API Technologies will showcase its line of Spectrum Control line of switch mode power supply capacitors, designed to provide superior performance in high frequency switching applications. Both high reliability military grade and industrial grade SMPS are available. They feature low ESR and ESL, lower ripple voltage, and less self-heating.

•Â  Magnetics

API offers extensive design and manufacturing capabilities within their line of magnetic products, including a wide range of magnetic core materials, winding wire from 6-45 gauge, and toroids that range in size from 0.5” to 18” in diameter, with up to 4,000 turns. API will feature a broad range of magnetic devices, including current transformers, toroidal and laminate power transformers, switch mode power supply inductors, lighting chokes and inductors, modem transformers, and air coils at the show.

•Â  InRush Current Limiting NTC Thermistors

API Technologies will be demonstrating their latest development in NTC thermistors, designed to limit the inrush current that occurs when power is applied to a system and thereby reduce circuit failures. In addition, these thermistors lower rectifier costs by reducing required peak forward surge current ratings. Steady state current ratings range from 1 to 36 Amps with resistance values from 0.5Ω to 220Ω.

•Â  GaN Broadband Power Amplifiers

API offers the latest in RF, microwave, and millimeter wave technologies including high power/small signal GaN Broadband Power Amplifiers for military and space applications. These cutting-edge power amps provide rugged, reliable, and efficient power in a smaller, lighter footprint making them ideal for a variety of defense and communications platforms, including counter-IED and electronic warfare (EW).

•Â  Power Distribution Products

API is a top supplier of Power & Systems Solutions for defense, military, and commercial applications. Highlighted products include: AC and DC power distribution products for high reliability applications and extreme harsh environments, as well as the Company’s intelligent and remotely monitored power distribution units.

API Technologies' product brands featured at APEC 2013 will include: Spectrum Control™, Keytronics™, Filtran™, RTI Electronics™, Spectrum Microwave™, and Spectrum Power™.
