The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced the launch of a series of monthly teleconferences on "Reducing Duplication and Proliferation in Chemicals Standards Development (CSD)." The teleconferences will be held on the last Tuesday of each month from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. EDT, beginning on Tuesday, August 26, 2008.

This issue of duplication and proliferation in chemical standards development affects a wide cross-sector of industries. The teleconference series will address this issue and build upon the work currently underway within the ANSI/NAM Network on Chemical Regulation (Network).

Organized as informal information exchanges with no official minutes taken, the CSD calls are designed to provide a forum for interested stakeholders to openly share and communicate with one another. The calls will be facilitated by ANSI in conjunction with industry peers involved in the Network.

In preparation for the CSD teleconferences, ANSI has prepared a brief survey for participants to complete prior to the first call. The survey will help to ensure that the teleconferences are conducted in a beneficial and proactive format. Completed surveys are requested by Thursday, August 21.

For additional information on the Network, visit www.ansi.org/chemicals. The agenda and dial-in information for the first call will be released in a future communication.

Questions regarding the CSD teleconference series may be directed to Kathleen Tuohy, ANSI's manager of membership marketing and development (212.642.4928; ktuohy@ansi.org).
