ANSI bestows awards on NEMA-related professionals.

August 7, 2014 - ANSI announced its 2014 Leadership and Service Award winners. Former NEMA President and CEO Evan R. Gaddis will receive 2014 ANSI Chairman Award for outstanding accomplishments on behalf of ANSI or the ANSI Federation. John Goodsell, VP of engineering and product development (retired) for Hubbell Inc., will receive 2014 Elihu Thomson Electrotechnology Medal, and Lutron Electronics Design and Development Leader Ethan Biery will receive a Next Generation Award.

ROSSLYN, Va. — The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) announced its 2014 Leadership and Service Award winners. Among them are former National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) President and CEO Evan R. Gaddis and John Goodsell, vice president of engineering and product development (retired) for Hubbell Inc., a NEMA member company.

According to Christopher B. Curtis, chairman of the NEMA Board of Governors, the ANSI awards reflect NEMA’s commitment to excellence.

“These recipients have been recognized for significant contributions to national and international standardization activities. On behalf of the NEMA Board of Governors, I am proud of their work and thank them for their ongoing dedication to the industry and for enhancing global voluntary consensus standards.”

Gaddis will receive the 2014 ANSI Chairman Award for outstanding accomplishments on behalf of ANSI or the ANSI Federation.

Goodsell will receive the 2014 Elihu Thomson Electrotechnology Medal, which honors an individual who has contributed in an exceptional, dedicated way to the field of electrotechnology standardization, conformity assessment, and related activities at national and international levels.

Lutron Electronics Design and Development Leader Ethan Biery will receive a Next Generation Award, which recognizes individuals who have demonstrated vision, leadership, dedication, and significant contributions in standardization or conformity assessment activities for less than eight years.

Michael Babiak Energizer Battery Manufacturing, Inc. Director of Technology, and John Young, technical consultant at Siemens Industry Inc., will receive Meritorious Service Awards in recognition of outstanding contributions to the U.S. voluntary standardization system.

ANSI will honor all award recipients during an October 22 ceremony held in conjunction with World Standards Week 2014 in Washington, D.C.

NEMA is the association of electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers, founded in 1926 and headquartered in Rosslyn, Virginia. Its 400-plus member companies manufacture a diverse set of products including power transmission and distribution equipment, lighting systems, factory automation and control systems, and medical diagnostic imaging systems. Total U.S. shipments for electroindustry products exceeds $100 billion annually.
