ANSI Invites Feedback to Highlight Standards That Make a Difference

There are just two weeks left before the submissions deadline for the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)'s Standards That Make a Difference poll. A great opportunity to raise awareness of the standards that have the biggest impact on today's ever-changing global marketplace, the survey allows organizations and interested stakeholders to highlight the specifications that they value the most.

First launched in 2002, the campaign gathers input on how specific standards "make a difference" in the lives of people around the world. Each entry must refer to a standard that is already published and in use in the marketplace; documents that are under development are excluded. American National Standards, standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) or the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), or any other domestic, regional or international body, including consortia, are eligible.

"In honor of our 90th anniversary, ANSI has reinstituted the Standards That Make a Difference survey," said Stacy Leistner, ANSI director of communications and public relations. "We invite those who develop standards - and those who use them - to identify the documents that they believe are having the greatest impact on business, government or society."

Each entry must include an explanation of why the standard (or family of standards) chosen is essential to business, government, and/or and consumer issues. Entries will be accepted until September 19, 2008.

Participants also have the chance to win one of three $100 American Express Gift Cards with each entry. The prize drawing will be held at the conclusion of the ANSI Annual Business Meeting during World Standards Week 2008 in Bethesda, MD.

Qualifying entries will be displayed publicly during the World Standards Week activities and published on ANSI Online.
