To facilitate and advance U.S. participation in international standardization activities, ANSI will offer 2 education courses, free of charge, in 2012 via webinar. Registration is open for March 2012 courses, which include Course 205 - ISO Secretariat Operations: Taking the Secret out of the Secretariat - on March 27, and Course 208 - The Operating Procedures of U.S. TAGs to ISO: Strengthening the U.S. Voice in International Standardization - on March 28.

ANSI to Offer Free Education Courses for Eligible Constituents in 2012



Registration Now Open for March 2012 Courses

To facilitate and advance U.S. participation in international standardization activities, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) will once again offer two education courses free of charge for eligible constituents in 2012. Both courses will be offered via webinar.

Registration is now open for the courses to be offered in March 2012; registration details for additional 2012 dates are forthcoming.

Individuals in the U.S. serving in the following roles may be interested in taking these courses:

Secretariat of an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) or Subcommittee (SC)

U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Administrator for an ISO TC or SC

Officers of U.S. TAGs

Delegates to ISO TC or SC meetings

Course 205, ISO Secretariat Operations: Taking the Secret out of the Secretariat
This course will help stakeholders become fluent in all aspects of successful ISO committee management. Attendees will increase their understanding of the international standards development process and alternative deliverables, and learn effective management techniques. They will also acquire knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of all committee officers; hear about ANSI's relationship to ISO; learn about requirements for ISO committee meetings; and gain helpful hints on preparation for and conduct at meetings. Also covered are special issues for Secretariats, including a review of new ISO electronic management tools.

Course 205 is geared to constituents holding or looking to hold ISO committee secretariats on ANSI's behalf, and anyone requiring in-depth knowledge of ISO and IEC procedures for technical work.

Course 208, The Operating Procedures of U.S. TAGs to ISO: Strengthening the U.S. Voice in International Standardization

In this course, participants will explore the processes and operating procedures of ANSI-accredited U.S. TAGs to ISO and learn how to be an effective international delegate at ISO committee meetings. Attendees will also learn about accreditation, membership, voting requirements, and rules for developing positions.

This course is geared toward corporate standards personnel and subject matter/technical experts interested in participating in ISO technical activities; current or prospective ANSI-accredited U.S. TAG members, officers and administrators; and accredited delegates to international standards meetings.
