The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced that the next monthly ANSI Caucus Luncheon will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010. The meeting will feature guest speaker Lawrence A. Kogan, president of the Institute for Trade, Standards and Sustainable Development (ITSSD) and principal at Exemplar Law, LLC.

Mr. Kogan is an international business, trade, and regulatory attorney licensed in New York, New Jersey, and Washington, DC. He has counseled national trade associations as well as internationally focused businesses, both public and private, in the commercial, financial, life sciences, energy, and information and communication technology sectors. Mr. Kogan has also worked with U.S. executive agencies and Congressional subcommittee chairs on asset and operations risks triggered by evolving foreign and international laws, regulations, taxes, standards, and various treaty and customary international law obligations.

As president of the ITSSD, a globally recognized, non-profit legal research and educational organization, Mr. Kogan's work has focused on issues of international intellectual property, environmental and health regulation, and technical trade standards. He has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications, white papers, and public speaking engagements.

The topic for discussion at this Caucus will be Climate Change: Technology Transfer or Compulsory License?

The January Caucus is sponsored by the Qualcomm, an ANSI member.

The Caucus will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the National Press Club (529 14th Street, NW, 13th Floor, Lisagor Room) in Washington, DC. The period from 11:45 to 12:15 will be for ANSI members only; after 12:15 all stakeholders are welcome. RSVPs are requested by January 11, 2010.
