TIANJIN, Peoples Republic of China - AMI DODUCO, a Technitrol (NYSE:TNL) Company presented a paper reviewing 50 years of advancements in industrial applications of silver at the 5th China International Silver Conference, held in Panyu, Guangdong Province, China, on September 28 - 30, 2006.

The paper, "Achievements in the Research and Development of Silver-based Alloys for Electrical Contact Materials," underlined the importance of close cooperation between the engineering groups of customers and contact manufacturers such as AMI DODUCO to drive advancements not only in performance, but also in material economy, given the substantial volatility in prices for raw materials such as silver, copper, and indium. Authored by Guenther Horn and Cai Ming of AMI DODUCO, Tianjin, China, the paper was the introductory presentation in the session on industrial silver usage at the conference.

"Joint efforts in the early stages of contact design allow AMI DODUCO to fully utilize its broad capabilities in component engineering and material science to maximize value to the customer," Horn said. "For example, early collaboration gives us the opportunity to investigate the viability of cost-saving measures such as reduced-silver alloys, selective plating processes and economical contact attachment alternatives."

The conference was sponsored by Chinese and international professional organizations, such as the Shanghai White Platinum & Silver Exchange and The Silver Institute. The program included 24 general interest and technical papers ranging from silver use statistics to the latest developments in nano-technology for medical applications. In attendance from various countries were more than 450 professionals involved in the production, distribution, trading, financing, refining and usage of silver and silver-based materials for jewelry and industrial applications.

AMI DODUCO is a global leader in electrical contact technology and fabrication. The company supplies contacts and assemblies, contact materials, electroplating and surface treatment services, and precious metal refining and recycling to more than 3,000 customers. AMI DODUCO operates from locations in North America, Europe and Asia. The company's website is www.amidoduco.com.
