Press release date: October 22, 2011

Arlington Heights, IL-USA The Air Movement and Control Association International (AMCA International) announced the formation of a new Asian joint venture today at its annual meeting in Poipu, Hawaii. The agreement was approved by AMCA's members in a unanimous vote, and signed in a formal public ceremony Saturday night.

The partnership will be majority owned by AMCA International, with minority interest held by AFMA which previously operated a licensed AMCA independent laboratory in Singapore and acted as AMCA's agent serving Southeast Asia. Madam Goh Swee Lee, principal owner of AFMA, was named Executive Director of the new company called Asia AMCA. Madam Goh will report to a local board of directors, which will include 2 directors appointed by AFMA, and 3 directors appointed by AMCA chosen from among its Asian regional membership. Tan Tin Tin, who is Madam Goh's partner in AFMA, will become Asia AMCA's technical director, supported by Mark Stevens, AMCA's Deputy Exec and Technical Director in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

At present, AMCA has 87 members in Asia, and adds more than one new Asian member each month.

Asia AMCA will expand its staff to better serve the region and will provide all AMCA headquarters functions and certification services from Singapore. AMCA International members in the region will remain members of AMCA International, but will rely more heavily on support from Asia AMCA in the future.

Wade Smith, AMCA Executive Director explained that "AMCA needed to expand its capacity to support its growing Asian membership - in the same time zone, in local languages (English and Mandarin), with less travel expense. We are excited about our future in the region under the very capable leadership of Madam Goh, who started AFMA in 2008 after a successful career in the fan industry." AMCA's other partnerships in the region, with the China Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association Quality Certification Center (CRAA QCC) and the Korea Testing Certification (KTC) will remain in force, managed by Asia AMCA.

AMCA International is an association of air system component manufacturers dedicated to the establishment of standards and certification of performance that brings integrity to the air movement and control system industry.

The Air Movement and Control Association International, Inc. is a not-for-profit international association of the world's manufacturers of related air system equipment - primarily, but not limited to fans, louvers, dampers, air curtains, airflow measurement stations, acoustic attenuators, and other air system components for the industrial, commercial, and residential markets.

The association's mission is to promote the health and growth of the industries covered by its scope and the members of the association consistent with the interests of the public. AMCA International, with origins dating back to 1917, has members in most industrialized countries throughout the world.
