Original Press Release:

ALAW 2007 a Resounding Success

Plymouth, Mich. - LIA and the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Intl. (FMA), have forged a new era for the Automotive Laser Application Workshop (ALAW). Since purchasing ALAW last year, these new owners have combined the laser applications and safety expertise of LIA with the metal fabricating experience of FMA. ALAW 2007 is the result and it was a resounding success.

ALAW 2007 provided presentations by 35 industry experts and end users, open houses at BLM GROUP, Fraunhofer USA, TRUMPF and 26 sponsor exhibits. Day one of the conference was "Fabricators Day - Making Money with Lasers," and focused on giving managers and owners of manufacturing facilities and job shops a fundamental understanding of laser technology, application realities, and solutions to practical problems. Days two and three featured the "Automotive Laser Applications Workshop" with senior level executives and engineers from the global automotive industry. Presentations included laser processing for automotive components; diode, fiber, and disk laser applications for welding and cutting; and how lasers are being used worldwide in the automotive industry.

ALAW 2007 featured:
o Fabricators Day, a full day of presentations specifically for fabricators.
o A presentation on tomorrow's automotive production.
o A full session on power train and component processing.
o Sessions on European, North American and Asian automotive applications.

According to Peter Baker, executive director of LIA, ALAW 2007 was a "unique opportunity for manufacturing executives and engineers to network with counterparts from around the globe, gain knowledge, and exchange ideas and diverse viewpoints."

ALAW 2008 promises to provide even more insightful discourse, networking, and information to the attendees. For more information on ALAW 2008 (May 13-15, 2008 Plymouth, MI) please contact Rich Greene at rgreene@alawlaser.org or visit www.alawlaser.org
