December 21, 2009 - ALA Innovation Award recognizes LabAutomation2010 podium presenters whose work demonstrates outstanding innovation and contributes to exploration of automation technologies in the laboratory. Top Candidates include Jason Haaheim, M.S., Ali Khademhosseini, Ph.D., Abe Lee, Ph.D., Darren Link, Ph.D., Richard Mathies, Ph.D., Zheng Ouyang, Ph.D., Juan Santiago, Gary Siuzdak, Ph.D., Robin Smith, and Pak Kin Wong, Ph.D. Panel of judges will select best presentation for $10,000 ALA Innovation Award.

Pak Kin Wong, Ph.D., Tucson, AZ, USA, University of Arizona - A 5-in-1 Bioprocessor for Electrokinetic Sample Preparation and Electrochemical Detection The ALA Innovation Award recognizes LabAutomation2010 podium presenters who put forth work that demonstrates outstanding innovation and contributes to the exploration of automation technologies in the laboratory. The Innovation Award Panel of Judges selected these ten Top Candidates from the LabAutomation2010 scientific program. The panel of judges will conduct a diligent and thorough evaluation of each Top Candidate's podium presentation at LabAutomation2010 and then select the overall best presentation for the $10,000 ALA Innovation Award.

ALA Innovation Award Panel of Judges Chair Jörg Kutter, Ph.D. said, "The ALA Innovation Award continues to recognize the best and brightest podium presentation at the LabAutomation Conference and Exhibition. The quality of submissions for this year's award signifies that LabAutomation continues to serve as the platform for presenting innovation in research and technologies from across the field of laboratory automation."

The $10,000 ALA Innovation Award winner will be announced Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 12:45 p.m. during the closing plenary session featuring Bruce Sterling - American science fiction novelist and former Twilight Zone writer and actor.

Each of the Top Candidates is invited to present their work once again at ACHEMAsia 2010 in Beijing, China, June 1-5, 2010.
