During its Annual Conference in San Antonio, TX, American Lighting Association announced 2008 Board of Governors and officers. M. Thomas Earl, chair and Paul W. Eusterbrock, chair elect are both past recipients of ALA's Pillar of the Industry Award and have traveled to Washington D.C. lobbying for small business issues in lighting industry. Irene L. Wang, treasurer has served on ALA Board of Governors since 2002, and Lars E. Bostrom CLMR, secretary received 2007 Pillar of the Industry Award.

DALLAS - During its recent Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas, the American Lighting Association (ALA) announced its 2008 Board of Governors and officers. Officers are as follows: M. Thomas Early, chair; Paul W. Eusterbrock, chair elect; Irene L. Wang, treasurer; and Lars E. Bostrom, CLMR, secretary.
Early, president of Burgess Lighting, is a past recipient of ALA's Pillar of the Industry Award. A member since 1993, Early is an active participant in ALA's Government Affairs Committee and traveled to Washington, D.C. for many years, lobbying for small business issues in the lighting industry. Early was also the founder, member and leader of the association's showroom networking groups.
Eusterbrock, president of Holtkoetter International, is also a past recipient of ALA's Pillar of the Industry Award and has traveled to Washington, D.C. as part of the ALA government affairs lobbying efforts for the past two years. Currently chair of the ALA Manufacturers Steering Committee, Eusterbrock has also been a member of ALA task forces addressing educational program development and energy efficiency initiatives.
Wang, president of Designers Fountain, Inc., has served on the ALA Board of Governors since 2002. Her ALA involvement includes positions on the Manufacturers' Steering, Officers Nominating and Finance committees. Before joining Designers Fountain in 1986, Wang was the Vice Consul/Consul, Consulate-General, Los Angeles for the Republic of China (Taiwan).
Bostrom, president of Bostrom Lighting Sales, is a 2007 recipient of the ALA's Pillar of the Industry Award and has been heavily involved in the association's growing government affairs efforts. Bostrom was one of the first ALA members to earn the AL's Certified Lighting Manufacturers' Representative (CLMR) designation. He has more than 40 years in the lighting business.
New to the ALA Board for 2008 is Kevin M. Herdt, CLC, president, Austin Bluffs Lighting. The recipient of an Excellence in Education Award in 2004, Herdt has served on the ALA Education Committee and has hosted an ALA eduation seminar at his Colorado Springs business every year since 1998. He has also served as a moderator for several ALA showroom networking groups.
Also on the 13-member board for 2008 are returning directors Michael H. Ber, CLC, president, Lighting, Inc.; John E. Deininger, president, Deininger Lighting Group, Ltd.; John F. McKiernon, vice chairman, Lutron Electronics Co., Inc.; Scott H. Muse, group vice president, Hubbell Lighting; Carolyn G. Overman, owner,Western Montana Lighting; Jan E. Zanger, president, Zanger Associates, Inc.; and Richard D. Upton, CCE, president/CEO, American Lighting Association. Fred C. Fennell, CLMR, president, Fennell Sales and Marketing, is the immediate past chair and will serve a second term on the board.
