AIA Presents 2010 Worker Safety Excellence Awards



Arlington, Va. - AIA presented its 2010 Worker Safety Excellence Awards today to Honeywell Aerospace, Raytheon Company and United Technologies Corporation.

Honeywell Aerospace won in the category of Worker Safety Improvement. This award is for most improved performance from 2008 through 2009 in reducing injury and illness rates. Honeywell is being recognized for the first time in the AIA Worker Health and Safety Award program.

UTC was also a first-time winner in the Aircraft Manufacturing sector, reflecting the leadership of its Sikorsky division. The award goes to the company in the sector that has the lowest injury and illness rates as well as exemplary safety programs and practices for all of 2009.

The Worker Safety Excellence Award in the Aerospace Components sector went to Raytheon Company, which previously won in the Missile and Space Vehicles sector.

"The 2010 results confirm that aerospace and defense companies are fully committed to a safe and healthy working environment for our workers."

The annual Worker Safety Excellence Awards were established five years ago by AIA's Environment, Safety and Health Committee, highlighting worker health and safety programs that succeed and are guided by the commitment of management at the highest level.
