AIA bolsters staff with three new additions.

AIA Bolsters Staff with Three New Additions
Arlington, Va. - AIA has added three new staff members to boost efforts in civil aviation, supplier management and environment, safety and health.
The new staffers are:
o Brian McDermott, vice president of Supplier Management
o Robert Young, assistant vice president of Civil Aviation
o Lisa Goldberg, director of Environment, Safety and Health
AIA President and CEO Marion Blakey said the new additions will improve the association's work in these important subject areas.
"All three of these new staffers come with impressive backgrounds and knowledge," Blakey said. "They will all be great resources to AIA and our member companies."
McDermott comes to AIA from Paragon Dynamics, a Denver-based company that specializes in aerospace and intelligence system development and engineering, program management and technical support needs. He previously worked for L-3 Communications and served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force. McDermott earned a master's degree in logistics and acquisition management from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in business administration and finance from the University of Texas at Arlington. In his new position, he oversees all efforts to support and advocate for aerospace suppliers and foster good relationships with prime contractors.
Young joins AIA from BAE Systems in Washington, D.C., concentrating on the FAA's NextGen air transportation system modernization program. Previously he was a commercial aircraft pilot, working for American, TWA and other airlines and concentrating on flight operations safety. He also worked as an aviation safety consultant and he began his career as a U.S. Navy aviator. Young holds a master's degree in international relations from Salve Regina University in Rhode Island and a bachelor's degree in industrial psychology from the University of La Verne in California. Young will be responsible for guiding AIA policy on aviation safety and security. He will also concentrate on the industry's environmental stewardship efforts.
Goldberg arrives at AIA from the Water Environment Research Foundation in Alexandria, Va. Before that she was an independent environmental consultant and worked for the Aluminum Association. Goldberg's background includes work for several other environmental engineering and technology companies. She has a bachelor's degree in natural resources from Cornell University in New York. As director of ES&H, Goldberg will coordinate AIA's environmental affairs as well as occupational safety and health programs and activities. She will provide technical support to staff and member company legislative and regulatory efforts.
