CMAT X Station Supports Five Degree of Freedom Alignment for High Volume Production of Ultra Small Format Camera Modules
WILMINGTON, Mass.-- Automation Engineering Incorporated (AEi), a global supplier of high-precision, flexible automation systems, announces the availability of its CMAT X flexible automation platform for manufacturing ultra small format digital camera modules. The new precision automation platform utilizes AEi's industry-leading five degree of freedom active alignment for significantly improved manufacturing yield and camera imaging performance, while also providing highly automated material handling for maximum production throughput.
According to AEi Chief Technology Officer Andre By, "We have developed the CMAT X addition to our CMAT family of camera module manufacturing platforms to address the flexible automation requirement of ultra small camera module designs. Market analysts expect ultra small cameras to quickly become a significant portion of the entire digital camera module market, since their very small size opens up new applications as well as meeting the ongoing shrinking size of mobile devices such as cell phones, PDAs, toys and other consumer products."

AEi's CMAT X stations are available now. Designed and built to order by AEi using a high degree of modularity, specific unit pricing is determined by manufacturing functions and features required by the customer-specific camera module packaging requirements and the number of units ordered, among other factors.
