AEM Provides Funding to Advance Machinery Standards Development Through SAE International

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SAE International to provide funding assistance for a more comprehensive approach to standards-development work in the off-road equipment industry. The focus is on earthmoving, road building and forestry.

The partnership with SAE transfers financial costs from individual companies to AEM on behalf of the industry, and continues the support of important industry-related standards work.

The MOU is intended to provide a fair and sustainable funding model for SAE standards-related administration and support services related to U.S. and international standards activities.

"This agreement will provide long term value to manufacturers and all industry stakeholders by providing a more clearly defined pathway for U.S. standards work and input into standards development worldwide," stated Darrin Drollinger, AEM's vice president of statistics, safety and technical services.

AEM has long been active in machinery standards development in North America and worldwide to achieve the goal of "do it once, do it right, do it globally."

AEM is the North American-based international trade group representing the off-road equipment manufacturing industry, and its members manufacture equipment, products and services used worldwide in the agriculture, construction, forestry, mining and utility sectors. AEM is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and has offices in the world capitals of Washington, D.C.; Ottawa, Canada; and Beijing, China; with a European presence in Brussels, Belgium.
