Update: CONEXPO Asia 2009 and AEM in China

Kaien Li is Now Show Managing Director

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) announces the promotion of Kaien Li to Managing Director of its CONEXPO Asia exhibition.

The next CONEXPO Asia will be held November 16-19, 2009 at the Chinese Import and Export Fair (CIEF) - Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou, China, the same location as the last show.

Kaien Li will also serve as Director of Asia sales for all AEM shows, which cover construction and agriculture. He continues as Acting Managing Director of AEM's China office. A selection search is being held for a full-time office managing director to lead AEM's expanded initiatives in China and the Asia-Pacific region.

"Kaien Li is a longtime and valued member of the AEM team and has been instrumental in the formation and success of CONEXPO Asia," noted AEM Senior Vice President Al Cervero.

Exhibit space sales for CONEXPO Asia 2009 are now open. Since the inaugural CONEXPO Asia, in 2006, the show has more than doubled in size and AEM expects another successful exhibition next year. CONEXPO Asia is the only China-based exhibition that is run by the industry, for the benefit of the industry. The show has the support of allied customer, government and industry groups. It is the only trade show in China that provides attendees the opportunity to see equipment in action at live demonstrations, and an expanded demonstration area is planned. The show's groundbreaking education program will offer more sessions at the 2009 event to help attendees gain the latest industry knowledge. Show organizer is also the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME).

AEM has operated a full-time China office for more than 10 years, located in Beijing. The Asia-Pacific region is increasingly important in AEM's global activities to promote trade opportunities and help advance safety, training, standards and statistics programs for the worldwide growth of the off-road equipment industry.

AEM has also hired James Chang in the China office as a training and education coordinator to assist with AEM's additional technical, training and standards work.

AEM has been successful in bringing the CONEXPO-CON/AGG brand of exhibition to CONEXPO Asia, and now CONEXPO Russia, because it is involved locally and has local support - in China with the direction and influence of our Chinese members and exhibitors and local exhibition leads.

In addition to James Chang, the AEM full-time China office staff includes Helen Sun, Exhibits Manager; Amy Wang, Technology and Safety Manager and office manager; Zoe Chou, Market and Information Manager, Judy Zhu, Marketing Coordinator; and Anna Tang, Account Assistant and Receptionist.
