AEC Announces Three New Members to 2009 Board of Directors



The results of the annual election of officers and directors of the Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) were announced at the 60th Annual Meeting & Leadership Conference on Friday, March 27, 2009 in Fort Myers, Florida.

Three new members of the AEC Board of Directors were added in mid-term elections to
fill vacant positions. Elected to a two-year term as Independent Extruder Director was
Richard (Rick) Merluzzi, President and CEO of Pennex Aluminum Company in Wellsville, Pennsylvania, an aluminum extruder that services the commercial and residential building products, transportation, distribution, and consumer durable markets. He has been an active member of the Council, serving as Chairman of AEC's Business Information Committee. Prior to joining Pennex, Merluzzi worked in the plastics industry and was active in their trade association, the Society of Plastics Industry. Through committee involvement, he did extensive work targeting the substitution of metals and brings a unique perspective to AEC on strategizing for the competitive materials battle.

Elected to serve a two-year term as At-large Director was Lynn Brown, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Hydro Aluminum in Linthicum, Maryland. Brown has been active in marketing and management in the extrusion industry since joining
Wells Aluminum in 1996. He joined Hydro when the company purchased Wells in 2000, and has held positions in marketing management, strategy and business development.
Since entering the industry, Brown has been active in AEC, focusing on improving industry market research and information.

Elected to serve a two-year term as an At-large Director was Jim Dickson, Director of Sales & Marketing-Primary Metal for North America for Rio Tinto Alcan Ingot Sales in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Dickson joined Alcan in 1976 and spent 14 years in Alcan's Extrusion Group, 10 years in the Rolled Products Group, and the remainder of his career in Ingot Sales. He was appointed to his current position at Rio Tinto Alcan in 2008.

Tom Schabel, CEO of Alexandria Extrusion Company in Alexandria, Minnesota was elected to serve as Chairman of the Council. Curt Rone, CFO of The Loxcreen Company in West Columbia, South Carolina, was re-elected as the at-large member of the Executive Committee. Rand Baldwin was re-elected to the non-voting position as President of the Council. Craig Werner, President of Werner Extrusion Solutions in Lake Forest, Illinois was elected as Immediate Past Chair.

Two of the six Independent Extruder Directors were re-elected to second terms, including Duncan Crowdis, President of Bonnell Aluminum in Newnan, Georgia and
John Noordwijk, President of Sapa Profiles, Inc. in Portand, Oregon.

James Foy, President of Foy, Inc. in Farmersville, Texas was re-elected to a two-year term as Supplier Director and John Casaldi Sales Director, North America Extruder Market for Alcoa Primary Metals in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was re-elected to a two-year term as Producer Director.
