ACS Group To Market Eriez Magnetics Products
The ACS Group Companies: AEC Inc., Colortronic North America, Cumberland Engineering and Sterling will now offer the first automated method of separating mixed plastic components for recovery and reuse. Eriez Magnetics' patented new PolyMagTM Additive and Process will be available through the ACS Group's experienced Sales Engineers in the US and Canada.
The PolyMagTM Process utilizes the time-tested method of magnetic separation. Today's progressive designers and manufacturers are turning to multi-material injection molding, over-molding, profile co-extrusion, sequential 3-D and dual-durometer blow molding to produce the most cost effective new designs. This extraordinary design freedom results in parts consolidation, consumer appeal, reduced assembly cost, consistent functionality, fewer SKUs, and the lowest total cost.
One challenge multi-material processors face is segregating and recovering dissimilar resins. Salvage labor is expensive and inconsistent. Cutting, peeling and sawing multi-material molded parts create employee ergonomic risks. Add to this escalating resin prices and there is a special urgency to recycle these mixed plastic resins.
The PolyMag Additive & Process offers the automated recovery of manufacturing scrap and waste for multi-material processors. To do this, 1% of the PolyMag additive is incorporated into one of the polymers prior to molding, similar to colorant, making this resin susceptible to the very strong magnetic field produced in the PolyMag Separator.
Scrap parts are run through a granulator allowing the PolyMag Process to separate the mixed polymer regrind.
