Press release date: July 21, 2008
BURLINGTON, Ontario, July 21, 2008 - ABB Instrumentation has announced that its 2600T Series pressure transmitters of type 264, 268, and 364 have received compliance with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) electrical code rules for dual seals. Canadian Electrical Code rules that apply to dual seals include 18-092(1), 18-108(1), and 18-158(1). Instrumentation destined for the oil and gas market in Canada must now often comply with these standards. These instruments also comply with ANSI/ISA 12.27.01 Dual Seal Standards.
The dual-seal standards require a secondary seal to prevent migration of flammable or combustible process fluids into electrical systems upon failure of a primary seal. Examples include diaphragm seals, thermowells, and pump seals. Devices that comply with these standards have undergone extensive testing involving temperature and fatigue cycling, overpressures, and leakage checks.
