SCHUNK offers a line of shrink-fit tooling to the North American market. CELSIO toolholders deliver a high degree of flexibility and almost unlimited options for combining shrinking chucks and extensions. CELSIO is ideal for a wide range of applications due to high torque transmission and high rigidity and guarantees true running of =0.003 mm (checked at inside end of clamping bore).
Flexibility is the key to the CELSIO program. Because a limited number of chuck bodies are required to provide a wide range of diameters, toolholder costs are minimized. CELSIO chuck bodies are manufactured using special steel to ensure maximum holder life without temperature distortion. Mounting tapers are ground to grade AT3, Form A and high-temperature as well as special hardening procedures that help avoid any material distortion due to heating and cooling.
The CELSIO unit operates with a simple control panel for operator ease. A high frequency induction coil with 10 kW power delivers fast shrinking for 3 - 32mm diameter carbide tools and 6 - 32 mm diameter HSS toolholders. Rapid cooling within 30 seconds minimizes excessive heating of the taper resulting in non-warping due to this special heat treatment process. Adapters can also be used in cooling units to facilitate the cooling of extensions and non-standard heat shrinking chucks.
