Sandvik Coromant Co.

Release date: July 24, 2009

Fair Lawn, New Jersey, July 27, 2009 - Sandvik Coromant has announced a variety of expansions to its milling product lines, including the introduction of new tool diameters and innovative insert grades and geometries. The new tools will be available in October 2009.

The CoroMill® 490 system will now offer additional tool diameters ranging from 0.787" - 4.921". Additionally, new insert geometries have been introduced in the GC2030, GC2040 and GC1030 grades. While CoroMill 490 has previously offered high precision, flexible milling of steel, hardened steel and cast iron, the new inserts offer increased performance in stainless steel machining.

The CoroMill 345, a new generation 45° face mill, now features a full range of inserts for cast iron machining and a new mirror-finishing geometry for steel. Cylindrical and Weldon shank cutters will also be released. The CoroMill 345 combines high performance with light cutting action. By using inserts with eight cutting edges, the CoroMill 345 provides economic, reliable performance in applications ranging from roughing to mirror-finishing. The CoroMill 345 is available in diameters ranging from 1.5" to 10".

The first tool in the exchangeable-head milling system, the CoroMill 316 is now available in the 3/8" - 0.984" diameter range. An extended range of carbide milling heads provides added application with new chamfering radius and larger diameter corner-radius end mills. Additionally, carbide shanks will be introduced to complement the existing steel shank assortment. Based on the CoroMill Plura geometries and implementing the latest PVD grade technology, the CoroMill 316 system offers the rigidity required for full-slot roughing and the accuracy for precision finishing operations.
