SERAPID stage lift systems will be installed in the Cobb Great Hall at the Wharton Center at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich. as part of the theatre renovation project.
"We were in need of a new lifting system for the two stages," said Matt Wright Elevator Supervisor at Michigan State University. "The stages used hydraulics as a lifting mechanism. The new LinkLift system will replace the hydraulics."
Twelve of SERAPID's LinkLift Rigid Chain Lift columns will be installed to replace the existing hydraulic lift systems at the center. Eight columns will be installed for the Down Stage Lift, and four columns will be installed for the Up Stage Lift. These new lift systems are a part of the first renovation the Wharton Center has undergone in more than 25 years.
"After visiting several sites across the state where SERAPID lifts are installed, we decided the LinkLift system would be the best fit for our stages," Wright said.
The lifts are comprised of SERAPID LinkLift columns, which feature square links that work like building blocks to form a tower stack. The shape and locking technique make it capable of extra-high rigidity and strength. The SERAPID systems are ideally suited for replacement of hydraulic systems such as those in the Wharton Center at Michigan State University.
SERAPID is a leader in stage, orchestra and piano lifts. Their Rigid Chain Lift Columns are installed in theaters, show venues and concert halls all over the world.
