Vogt Power International Selects Johnson Matthey Oxidation Catalyst for Gas Turbine
MALVERN, PA, June 4, 2009-Johnson Matthey's Stationary Emissions Control (SEC) Division announced that it will supply oxidation catalyst to Vogt Power International Inc. (VPI), a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc., to control emissions from a combustion turbine installed at the Orlando Utilities Commission Curtis H. Stanton Energy Center at Orlando, FL. The project is a joint venture of Orlando Utilities and Southern Power, a subsidiary of the Southern Company.
Vogt Power will design, engineer, manufacture and deliver one duct-fired, three-pressure-level, natural circulation heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) that will be installed behind a modified GE Frame 7FA gas turbine. The HRSG will be equipped with a multi-pollutant control system including SCR system for the removal of NOx, and Johnson Matthey oxidation catalyst for carbon monoxide reduction.
The Stanton Energy Center plant will produce 300 MW of electricity to power about 285,000 households. Start up is scheduled for 2010.
