Ferraz Shawmut

Release date: May 8, 2009

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (May 8, 2009) - Ferraz Shawmut announces its schedule of electrical safety seminars. The seminars are designed to address the needs of plant supervisors, safety managers, electrical engineers, electricians, and electrical system designers and specifiers.

Arc Flash NFPA 70E® Safety will be offered on May 19th at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry Township, PA. This five and half hour seminar will present new content not covered previously and report on recent code revisions in the 2009 edition of the NPFA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. It will cover overcurrents, arc energy, arc flash hazards, codes & standards, fuse performance, and mitigating arc flash hazards. Attendees will learn how to avoid electrical & arc flash accidents, choose the right PPE to protect their employees, and how to update their safety program to meet the 2009 edition of the NFPA 70E.

Overcurrent Protection Basics for Designs & Specifiers will be held on August 27th at the Scott Conference Center in Omaha, Nebraska. This half-day seminar will provide an up-to-date understanding of the key overcurrent protection issues. It will cover current-limiting fuses (basics, curves, types and the UL 248 standard for low voltage fuses), arc flash considerations in an industrial/commercial environment, and short circuit current rating and selective coordination requirements in the NEC® 2008. A certificate of completion (4 instruction hours) will be provided for those needing PDH credits.
