Plymouth Tube Co. Release date: December 12, 2008
EUPORA, MS - Lonnie Potts, Plymouth Tube Company's Eupora Plant General Manager announces that his plant has been honored with the 2009 TPJ Industry Award presented by the Tube and Pipe Association (TPA).
TPA is a technology affiliate of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International® (FMA) which honors industry success stories. According to Gerald Shankel, president and CEO of FMA, "this award is designed to recognize those individual leaders and companies that display innovation and determination to succeed." Eric Lundin, TPJ Editor, further adds, "The award is bestowed on the applicant that has best demonstrated success in its operations (shop floor operations, safety, and training); marketplace (business growth, customer satisfaction, and innovations); and community involvement (support of manufacturing as a career choice and philanthropic activities)."
Plymouth Tube Company's Eupora plant meets that criterion of an industry success story. With its seamless implementation of lean manufacturing, high regard to quality and empowerment of all employees to participate in process and safety improvements, Eupora not only encompasses the essence of the TPJ Industry Award, but is a great example of a quality American manufacturing plant for which the manufacturing industry is considered the backbone of America. This recognition was brought to the surface in 2006 when the plant was a finalist in the competition of "Best Places to Work in Mississippi" as well.
The award will be presented at the Metal Matters 2009 conference hosted by FMA beginning March 25, 2009 at Carefree, Arizona. Plymouth Tube Eupora's Plant will also be featured in the January/February 2009 issue of TPJ - Tube & Pipe Journal® with an editorial covering how its culture was recognized for the Industry Award and the issue's cover will spotlight Eupora with a full color photo of the plant and some of its employees.
