Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, RulonŽ & MeldinŽ Bearings

Release date: December 1, 2008

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics has recently expanded its range of basic shapes in order to offer a full range of sheets and rods. Not only does Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics offer the market standard of 254 mm x 254 mm square sheets in thicknesses ranging from 1.6 mm up to 50.8 mm in small incremental steps, it also offers a more economical sheet size of 305 mm x 305 mm in the same thickness range, yielding 44% more material per sheet for added productivity and better economies since less machine setups are needed for the same amount of parts. The larger sheet dimension also allows to machine larger parts inside one single sheet, without the need to connect multiple elements to form one component. In addition to the sheets, Isostatically moulded rods are available in 305 mm and 940 mm lengths and cover a full diameter range, starting at only 6.35 mm and moving up to a massive 82.5 mm in small increments.

The MeldinŽ 7000 Series consists of five grades with each grade having specific benefits: MeldinŽ 7001 is the virgin (unfilled) base polyimide with superior electrical and thermal insulation properties. MeldinŽ 7021 is 15% graphite filled for universal use in dynamic applications and MeldinŽ 7022 has 40% graphite added for increased dimensional stability and high-temperature property retention. MeldinŽ 7211 is filled with 10% PTFE and 15% graphite to offer ultra-low friction generation and MeldinŽ 7003 with its 15% MoS2 filler is used for high vacuum and ultra-dry applications.

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is an industrial company that belongs to the Top 100 Largest Companies in the World.
